For a long time, research on cultural capital has demonstrated that age has been having a significant influence in shaping up practices and tastes. This is important in itself as a finding, as any other would be, but it is more remarkable when we frame it by lines of argumentation whose hypothesis are about class differences. In other words, age emerges as an un-invited guest or in tension within theoretical perspectives that not necessarily, and even not very often, have the analytical lenses to work out how differences in age can make a contribution in sociological critical thinking. In that sense, the relevance of how old someone is for individuals’ cultural behavior confounds at least or betrays at most class agendas.
